A male Yorkie-Poo puppy, valued at $700, was stolen from an Ypsilanti Township pet store, and the story is gaining national attention.

Someone broke the front door of the Pet City Pets store, on Ecorse Road in Ypsilanti Township, and stole the dog.  Owner Stuart Collins said it looked like the thief targeted the dog, because nothing else in the store was taken.  Collins stated the search for the culprit has been made more difficult, because the store's surveillance system is currently broken.

Collins told WEMU the incident has prompted an emotional response in many, stating his wife cried all day following the discovery of the theft.  National coverage has sparked, including interest from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Anyone with information about the theft should call the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department at 734-971-8400.
