Washtenaw County Offers Tips On Navigating Roundabouts
Traffic roundabouts were designed to slow the speed of vehicles to increase capacity and improve safety. The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office put out a reminder on how they are best used to increase safety and awareness for motorists.
Reminder number one is to slow down when approaching a roundabout. Choose the appropriate lane which corresponds with your intended destination, then slow down when you approach the yield sign.
Here's the part most people may not realize--officials say don't stop or change lanes as you enter or once you are in a roundabout.
And, of course, always yield to pedestrians and bicyclists as you approach the crosswalk.
