Washtenaw County Sheriff Addresses Potential Safety Concerns For Election Day

Jerry Clayton
Washtenaw County

It's almost Election Day, and the seemingly endless campaigns seem to have brought up some public safety concerns for both during and after the election.

Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton spoke with WEMU about how local law enforcement plans to handle any potential hazards at polling places.

At this point, the Washtenaw Sheriff's Office has received no information on any potential threats during Election Day.  In fact, Clayton doesn't expect the county to have any post-election disturbances either, but he will consult with the Washtenaw County clerk about how to handle any public discourse .

Clayton also reminds residents that voter intimidation is both a state and federal crime.
