Washtenaw County Church Increases Security Measures After Texas Massacre

A Washtenaw County church is taking steps to improve its security measures after a gunman killed 26 people at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.

Walkie-talkies are now being used at the Brown Chapel AME Church in Ypsilanti for better communication.  Pastor Jerry Hatter says he's reached out to Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton for advice on what can be done to protect his parishioners.

"Everything is in play at this point. Whether it be metal detectors, whether it be the use of internal security cameras."

The pastor added that they're looking into the possibility of hiring a security guard at the church and creating an evacuation plan.  He wants to make sure people still feel safe when they go to church.
