As you adjust your schedule for Daylight Saving Time this Sunday, state officials say it also affects traffic.

To help combat the problem, the Michigan Department of Transportation is urging motorists to stay alert and be extra careful when driving for the next week.

"Be alert and slow a little extra time to travel to your destination.  Avoid distractions and keep your eyes on the road.  Look out to the side of the road where bicyclists and pedestrians might be,” says MDOT official Josh DeBruyn,

DeBruyn says pedestrians and bicyclists should also wear bright and reflective clothing to make it easier to be spotted.
