Gov. Says "Big & Bold" Solutions Are Needed For State - While Speaking At EMU

Four months after taking office, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer painted a not-so-pretty picture of Michigan’s infrastructure and education system, while speaking to a group of Ann Arbor area business and community leaders on the Eastern Michigan University campus.

Saying Michigan roads are the worst in the country and we are headed for tragedy due to what’s happening to the state’s education system, Governor Whitmer again pushed for her gas tax raising proposal to fix the state’s roads.  The governor told several hundred people gathered on the Eastern Michigan University campus "we all have a stake in getting this done."

“Well, the fact of the matter is our roads are downright dangerous, and if we don’t make a real decision to get serious about this, we’re going to have a tragedy.  And that’s what I’m trying to avoid,” says Governor Whitmer.

The governor adding that everyone understands the magnitude of the problem and that “big and bold” solutions are what’s needed to turn the state around.
