A new partnership in China was among the items approved at today’s EMU Board of Regents meeting.
The regents voted in favor of forming a 15-year partnership with Beibu Gulf University in China.
EMU President James Smith says they have been working on this since his last visit to the country.
“They’re very interested in doing a joint program in engineering. Well, at that same time, we had a proposal to the board to being mechanical and electrical engineering,” says President Smith. “So, in about a two-year time span, we’ve worked with this institution to make a proposal to do a joint campus.”
The board also voted to approve an extension of President Smith’s contract through June 30, 2024, as well as a plan to expand the amount of financial aid it offers to students in the 2020-21 school year.
