WEMU is postponing its Spring on-air fundraiser, due to concerns over the Coronavirus.
WEMU's Lisa Barry spoke with General Manager Molly Motherwell about the decision.
Motherwell cited several reasons for the postponement, including safeguarding the health of staff and volunteers, and the a desire to avoid interrupting regular programming during an ongoing, global crisis.
"We're here to provide a public service," Motherwell says. "It would not be in anyone's best interest for us to interrupt big chunks of programming with fundraising messages."
Motherwell adds that the need for community support still exists but requests for that support will not impact regular programs.
