Washtenaw County’s Board of Commissioners has declared a state of emergency in the county.
Commission Chair Jason Morgan made the declaration as part of a larger local strategy to help fight the spread of the coronavirus.
Morgan says they are activating every resource at their disposal to keep the community safe.
“The declaration does allow us more discretion in term of more resources, if we should need them,” says Morgan.
The Board of Commissioners is also agreed to distribute an additional $250,000 in local funding to the county’s public health department and other emergency services, effective immediately.
