There are 11 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Michigan. That brings the total number to 65, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. As Rick Pluta tells us, there is still a shortage of kits to test for the disease.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer says there are more suspectedCOVID-19 cases in Michigan than there are available tests. She hopes a new federal assistance package will help fix that. But, she says, for now, health care providers have to prioritize testing for the most at-risk people. The governor also says she has not ruled out additional emergency executive orders to close buildings and restrict gatherings.
“Every measure we have taken has been to mitigate community spread, and when we do that, we save lives.”
Whitmer says decisions on emergency restrictions are based on the most recent advice from the Centers for Disease Controland other governors dealing with similar situations.
