WISD Working With Local School Districts On Online Learning

WISD

School districts across Washtenaw County are facing technological challenges to continue educating students as they stay at home.

Schools will currently remain closed until April 13.

The Washtenaw Intermediate School District has started working with the other local districts to develop strategies for online learning, if they are required to stay closed longer.

Superintendent Scott Menzelsays they’ve been working with districts to make sure they have enough devices to distribute to children.

“We don’t want any student is this environment to be left behind, and we’re deeply committed to equitable educational opportunities, and so, as a county, we’re working to coordinate our efforts to make sure we’re serving all the students,” Menzel says.

Menzel says the lack of high speed internet or cell service is also a big challenge for some of the county’s more rural communities, and they are looking into developing alterative strategies that will work for them.
