St. Joseph Mercy Health System Resuming Some Medical Procedures

Saint Joseph Mercy Health System

The St. Joseph Mercy Health System is starting to resume operations for some time-sensitive medical procedures and surgeries.

The health system had previously halted most of its operations due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but has started to loosen those restrictions as the number of new cases of the disease begins to flatten out.

The president of St. Joseph Ann Arbor and Livingston, Alonzo Lewis, says they’re currently focusing on important, life-preserving services, such as treatments for cancer and heart disease.

“We’ve also been doing some screening mammogram services and screening colonoscopies and other diagnostic services, such as CAT scans and M.R.I. procedures,” Lewis says.

Lewis says they’re also implemented additional safety measures, such as health screenings and isolation areas, to ensure patients and workers are protected.
