Michigan US Senator Debbie Stabenow says Joe Biden's choice of Kamala Harris as his running mate is a win-win for Michigan.

WEMU's Lisa Barry spoke with the senator about Harris, whom she says is "smart, capable, and tough."

Calling it a “history-making decision,” Michigan US Senator Debbie Stabenow reacts to the choice of Kamala Harris as presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s vice presidential running mate.  Stabenow says Harris is a good friend of hers, who came to the state to help her campaign for office a few years ago.  She says they’ve worked together in many different ways and believes the choice of Harris on the Democratic presidential ticket is a win-win for Michigan.

"I kind of feel in Michigan this is a two-fer for us, because we get to keep our great Governor, and they have this amazing woman as a vice presidential candidate."

Senator Stabenow says she cares very deeply and plans to campaign for the Democratic presidential ticket as much as she can, given the current global health crisis.
