On this week's Issues of the Environment, Andy Drews, Technical Specialist at the Ford Research and Innovation Center in Dearborn, discusses Ford's partnership with the University of Michigan for car battery research and the future of car batteries and electric cars in Washtenaw County.

Listen to the extended interview here:

  •  Ford Motors and the University of Michigan have teamed up on an $8-million battery lab project, and will be used to develop cheaper and more efficient EV batteries.
  • Ford’s other labs validate production-ready batteries, but this lab will focus on research and innovation, and it will also compete with other universities and think-tanks that hope to capitalize on the increasing market for electrified cars.
