Eastern Michigan University’s Board of Regents approved a tuition increase for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Undergraduate students will see a 2.9% increase, while graduate and doctoral students will see a 4.9% increase. With the increase, a resident freshman taking 30 credit hours a year will pay $375 more in tuition this coming year. EMU PresidentJames Smith says financial aid will be available to all those who qualify.
President James Smith: We added $500,000 or approximately $500,000 from the general fund to student financial aid.
President Smith says the university will use part of the additional tuition revenue to help install plexiglass shields on classroom podiums for COVID-19 safety measures. Eastern is also expecting to see a reduction in state subsidy because of the pandemic.
