Foolish Weekend On Tap For Ann Arbor

Apr 3, 2014

Expect plenty of foolishness in Ann Arbor this weekend, with FoolMoon Friday night, and Festifools taking over Main Street Sunday afternoon.  Several hundred illuminated decorations are expected to be part of the FoolMoon processionals Friday evening around eight.

Shary Brown is a member of the WonderFool Productions volunteer board.  Brown thinks the foolishness continues to grow in popularity because it's largely a community built event.

Brown says some of the old Festifool puppets were part of the Grand Rapids Art Prize last year so they are hoping to attract even more people to Ann Arbor this weekend.  She adds community and business support is key for maintaining both FoolMoon and Festifools.

An entire new set of giant paper mache puppets and other items are expected for this year's "WishFool" Dreams themed Festifools.  WonderFool Productions Creative Director Mark Tucker says they don't call their mayhem and chaos a parade, but rather refer to the two blocks of Main Street as a stage.

FoolMoon runs Friday from dusk until midnight at Ashley and Washington.  There are 3 starting places for FoolMoon processionals.  Bring your luminaries and meet between 7:45 and 8 PM, with the processions starting at 8:15.  They start at the Farmer's Market, University of Michigan Museum of Art, and Slauson Middle School.

Festifools takes place Sunday on Main Street between William and Washington from 4 to 5 PM.
