Dr. Jessie Kimbrough-Marshall recently went door-to-door along with representatives of EMU’s Family Empowerment Program (FEP), with support from Michigan Medicine to launch a vaccine education and outreach effort to assist in helping residents living in the Ypsilanti Housing Commission (YHC) communities make informed decisions about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Dr. Kimbrough-Marshal and some 25-30 volunteers knocked on doors in the YHC communities, providing outreach educating residents on the three approved vaccines, as well as providing information on local vaccine access.

There will also be a webinar Wednesday evening, March 31st from 7-8 PM featuring Dr. Kimbrough Marshall and Dr. Kiela Samuels, Clinical Pharmacist and Professor at Washtenaw County Community College and Michigan Medicine, talking about:

  • Information on currently available COVID-19 vaccines
  • COVID-19 vaccination racial disparities
  • Benefits of vaccination
  • Side effects and safety concerns
  • Information of how to get registered to receive a COVID-19 vaccine
  • Q&A

The webinar will be a Facebook live on the Engage @ EMU Facebook page.
