Saline Area Schools is putting together a diversity, equity, and inclusion plan after racist incidents occurred prior to the Coronavirus shutdown.  WEMU's Jorge Avellan has the details.

Despite current school closures, Superintendent Scot Graden says district officials are reviewing feedback the district received last month during community conversations.  The goal of the sessions was to gather ideas on what the district can do after some of their students made racist comments against African-Americans on social media earlier this year.

Graden explains one of the ideas they keep seeing in the feedback they received.

Scot Graden: The uses of training, making sure that our staff is aware of their own biases, privileges on how that impacts the teaching methodology.

The district will present a diversity, equity, and inclusion plan to the school board in mid-April.
