Washtenaw County Nursing Homes Being Hit Hard By Coronavirus

The Washtenaw County Health Department says there are confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases in most of the local nursing facilities.

As a result, thehealth departmentsays they have daily communication with nursing facilities in the county to monitor the situation.  However, health department spokesperson Susan Cerniglia says they’re not confirming if a specific location has been affected by the pandemic.

"We’re, unfortunately, as a community, passed that point where it makes any sense to share all of the locations in the community where there is potential risk because that risk is everywhere"

About 24% of people currently hospitalized in the county for COVID-19 are 80 years of age or older.
