Ypsilanti City Council To Discuss Trick Or Treating Plans During COVID-19 Tonight

City of Ypsilanti

Ypsilanti’s City Council will begin discussing Tuesday night how the city wants to plan for trick or treating this year during COVID-19.

City Council MemberSteve Wilcoxen from the second ward says the city plans to consult with the Washtenaw County Health Departmenton safety guidelines and with the Downtown Development Authority on how local businesses can safely participate in the celebration.  Wilcoxen adds that city council also plans to address other Halloween activities that will be affected by the pandemic.

Council Member Steve Wilcoxen: Other kinds of celebrations like parties, there are movies in the park and things like that. All of those things could be revisited in terms of what we’re doing with the pandemic.

Wilcoxen says council will also reach out to the police department for feedback and recommendations on how safety guidelines, such as wearing masks and social distancing, will be enforced.
