Today officially marks WEMU's 60th year on the air. It was on December 8, 1965 when WEMU first crackled to life. Throughout the year, we've been celebrating the occasion in a variety of ways, including conversations with some of those vital to the foundation of the radio station. Eastern Michigan University President, Dr. James Smith, joined WEMU's David Fair to reflect on his relationship to WEMU and its importance to the university and community.

Musicians of all levels across Ann Arbor will come together Saturday for Make Music Day. It's an open‑air celebration where anyone can listen or pick up an instrument and play along. WEMU’s Ana Longoria has more.
