The Ann Arbor School Board will have a new look after next month's election. Ten Candidates are running for four seats on the board. While I'm interviewing all of the candidates, Jeffery Harrold is the focus of today's report.
Concerns over Ann Arbor Public Schools privatizing custodial work earlier this year led Jeffery Harrold to run for school board.
The pastor and mediator for the University of Michigan's Office of Student Conflict Resolution supports efforts to reduce suspensions. He also wants renewed attention to fighting the achievement gap. "It is pervasive and persistent. A misunderstanding is that it just happens with low income students, Black and Hispanic it is pervasive across all demographics," Harrold says.
Harrold opposes the proposed annexation of Whitmore Lake Public Schools. He hasn't been convinced it will benefit Ann Arbor schools and says too many in the community have unanswered questions about the plan.
