As teachers request grants for projects from the Ann Arbor Educational Foundation, more and more of them are asking for help with special needs education.
The foundation awarded nearly $3,500 to Pattengill Elementary last year. That provided equipment for many students, including some suffering from attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Linh Song is the executive director of the foundation:
"Wiggle cushions, headphones, stand-up desks. It's equipment that allows kids to kind of focus in the classroom without being distracted."
As a result of the grant, students improved academically.
