Washtenaw County Deputies Saved Ten Lives With Naloxone In 2015

Assault and domestic violence cases were down in Washtenaw County last year. That's one of the highlights of the 2015Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office


In 2015, deputies began to carry Naloxoneto treat heroin overdoses. “We saved ten lives," spokespersonDerrick Jackson says.  "Literally four days after our training, our deputies saved a life.” 

There were 339 fewer cases of assault last year than in 2014, and 223 fewer domestic violence cases last year.  The data comes from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Officeannual report, released today.


Jackson says the county remains a relatively safe place, especially, "compared to some of our neighboring communities, [Washtenaw County] is a very safe community to live, work, and play in.”
