This week, Art and Soul is about the visual arts in Washtenaw County.
89.1 WEMU'S Lisa Barry speaks with Omari Rush, executive director of Culture Source. They talk about arts events in Washtenaw County and the shape of the arts in Southeastern Michigan.
Lisa and Omari talk about the Millennial Pink Exhibition currently running at the Ann Arbor Art Center.
Rush speaks about how he believes that the arts are vibrant in the area. His organization, Culture Source, is an umbrella for arts and cultural institution in Southeastern Michigan, and he says they have their hands full supporting them all.
He also speaks about the uniqueness of the art and culture in different communities in the metro area.
Lisa and Omari then discuss some of the programs in the Washtenaw County area, including Outrage! The Art of Protest by 22 North. It is a gallery at 22 N. Huron Street in Ypsilanti, which includes artwork that speaks of the current political environment.
Other arts events include the West Side Art Hop on October 14, in the Liberty Street area of the west side of Ann Arbor. People in the neighborhood open their houses to visitors to view art on display and available for purchase.
