Ann Arbor Entrepreneur Creates A New Button Gearing Up For Next Women's March

Lisa Barry

Whether it's "Me Too" or "Time's Up," men and women have been sharing different messages lately by wearing a special pin or button.  It was one year ago when Kate Lind of Ann Arbor co-created a special button in advance oflast year’s women's march that was worn by people all over the world.

Now she has created a new button for this year's upcoming march and joined 89.1 WEMU'S Lisa Barry to talk about that and other efforts she's highlighting with wearable buttons.

Kate Lind and Nate Steves first came up with the idea to put messages on buttons just over a year ago, and their idea proved popular.

Now, with more women's marches coming up this year, including in Michigan on January 21st, they've designed a new button.  Pincause is offering a “Share Your Voice” button people can write their own message on or pick a message from the set’s stickers such as “#MeToo.”

“At these marches, we aren’t fighting one injustice but many, and we want to give people the opportunity to share their truth, whatever it may be,” said Kate Lind, Pincause co-founder.

Every pin sold generates $2 for a big cause.  But beyond financial goals, Pincause sparks conversations and gives people a way to wear support for the causes that matter most to them.  To date, Pincause has raised over $175,000 for seven different big causes, including women’s rights, refugees, and stopping puppy mills.
