The Washtenaw County Health Department revealed that local enrollment in health insurance is up through the Affordable Care Act.
Over 450 people from our country enrolled between November 1st and December 15th of 2017. That's a twenty percent increase from the previous year.
Krista Nordberg is the Director of Enrollment for the Washtenaw Health Plan. She says federal cuts caused an urgency to enroll.
"I feel like some of the negative advertising about the real cuts in the budget for outreach enrollment nationwide--that was cut by 90%--that also seemed to have an impact."
About 11,000 people remain uninsured in Washtenaw County.
