Voters To Decide On Whitmore Lake Public Schools Millage Next Week

Whitmore Lake Public Schools

A proposal that would generate millions of dollars for asinking fund for Whitmore Lake Public Schools will appear on the August 7th primary ballot.

The district is asking voters to approve a 1-mill that would cost the average homeowner between $50 and $100 a year for the next 10 years.

Superintendent Tom DeKeyser says the funds would be used to maintain buildings and buy classroom equipment, such as new computers.

"We often times have to way the device purchase with, let's say, a snowplow purchase, all that's general fund.  And we're really trying to seperate instructional from maintenance and repair," said DeKeyser.

If approved, the tax levy would generate about $3.5 million during the next ten years.
