Eastern Michigan Universityofficials say they are continuing to monitor the impact of the coronavirus on the university community. 89.1 WEMU’s Lisa Barry has details.
Eastern Michigan University president Dr. James Smithsays they continue to “proactively monitor the situation and are following guidelines from theCenters for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, as well as several other organizations, including the Washtenaw County Health Department."
So far, there are no reported cases at Eastern Michigan or in the state of Michigan at this time, but President Smith said they are taking multiple precautions to ensure the continued health safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff.
Certain travel restrictions remain in place, and EMU officials are suspending all university-affiliated travel to China, South Korea, Italy, and Iran, effective immediately.
