Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Taking Precautions To Prevent Spread Of Coronavirus

St Joseph Mercy Health System

To help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System is taking precautionary measures at their facilities, which includes their St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital.  WEMU's Jorge Avellan has the story.

Individuals interested in receiving medical care at a Saint Joseph Mercy Health System hospital are being asked to wear a face mask if they show symptoms such as a fever, cough, or shortness of breath.  They're also being asked about their travel history.  Dr. Anurag Malani is the medical director for infection prevention and control at St. Joe's.

“So we have evaluated and tested patients for COVID, and fortunately at this time, those tests have come back negative,” Malani says.

Dr. Malani added that St. Joe's does have isolation rooms to house coronavirus patients if needed.  The hospital is also asking anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms to not visit patients.  We reached out to Michigan Medicine for an interview on measures they're taking regarding the coronavirus, but they did not make themselves available.
