EMU's Digital Divas Conference Moves Online

Digital Divas
Eastern Michigan University

Eastern Michigan University is kicking off its annual Digital Divas conference today.  There’s something different about it this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The STEM conference is being held online instead of on-campus like it normally is.  Bia Hamed is the program director for the conference.  She says that, in addition to providing virtual activities to the over-600 middle and high school girls who had registered for the event this year, it’s open to the public.  She explains one of the engineering activities that’s being offered.

"Where you would use common household items to engineer a chair. As simple as that sounds, it could be a little challenging"

Online videos will help students complete STEM activities.  While the conference usually lasts one day, this year, the activities will be available on the EMU website for several months.
