EMU Employees Will Get Temporary Pay Cuts Because Of COVID-19

EMU

Eastern Michigan University announced employee budget changes as a result of COVID-19.

Over 200 non-union administrators and staff members will have their work schedules reduced to three or four days a week, with a corresponding reduction in pay of 40 or 20 percent.  EMU Spokesperson Geoff Larcom says this new measure will be in place from May 18th through August 1st.  Employees who are affected will be able to utilize the State of Michigan’s Workshare program.

Geoff Larcom: The Work Share program involves employees collecting partial unemployment benefits to make-up a portion of lost wages.

The university plans to negotiate similar reductions for union employees.
