As the number of COVID-19 cases continue to decline in Washtenaw County and state restrictions are easing, it might be confusing to some to figure out what we should be doing and where we should be going at this time.
WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with Washtenaw County Health Department spokesperson Susan Cerniglia, who says they are taking a wait-and-see approach to gradual reopening of the state.
More businesses and services are starting to re-open as the state’s COVID-19 restrictions continue to loosen, but as health officials warn, nothing about the coronavirus has changed.
Washtenaw Health spokesperson Susan Cerniglia says, even though the issue has become politicized and is problematic to enforce, wearing a mask when you go out is still a solid public health strategy. She says, "At the end of the day for us in public health, it’s really a requirement, but we know that there are going to have to be exceptions."
Cerniglia says we are still in the middle of a pandemic, and it is NOT time to let your guard down in protecting yourself from COVID-19.
