Wiki Commons

A rally will be held this Saturday in Ann Arbor to protest the arrest and detention of protesters by federal officers in Portland, Oregon.

Community activist Jeff Gaynor is the co-organizer of the rally that will start at 1 pm at the Federal Building on East Liberty Street in Ann Arbor.  Gaynor says human rights were violated when Homeland Security officers arrested protesters and put them in unmarked vehicles without identifying themselves.

Jeff Gaynor: We need people to speak up and protect our constitution and protect their right to protest.

Residents in Portland have been protesting racial inequality and police brutality.  Elected officials from Washtenaw County are expected to speak at Saturday’s rally in Ann Arbor.
