Ann Arbor ReUse Center Permanently Closes

Recycle Ann Arbor

Recycle Ann Arbor says it will not reopen its ReUse Center on South Industrial Highway.

The local non-profit organization made the announcement this week, citing high rent costs, the COVID-19 pandemic, and health concerns with operating a thrift store during the current health crisis.

Recycle Ann Arbor’s Director of Strategy, Bryan Weinert, says they do want to open a new one eventually.

“We’re looking to put together a task force that’s going to be looking at other locations, new ways for us to proceed.  We’ll rebuild on our experiences of the past, what’s currently being provided in the community, and what opportunities there might be that haven’t yet been produced,” Weinert says.

In the meantime, Weinert encourages Washtenaw County residents to continue to donate usable items to other thrift stores in the community.
