Governor Whitmer Appoints New EMU Regent

Eastern Michigan University

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has appointed a new member to Eastern Michigan University’s Board of Regents.

Governor Whitmer has chosen Chad Newton, the Chief Executive Officer of the Wayne County Airport Authority, to serve on the board.

Newton is a three-time Eastern graduate and previously served on the EMU Alumni Association Board of Directors.

He is replacing former EMU Regent Rich Baird, who resigned in January.

Newton will serve on the Board of Regents until December 2026.
