EMU Board Of Regents Approve Name Change For College Of Engineering & Technology

Eastern Michigan University’s College of Engineering and Technology is being renamed.

EMU’s Board of Regents announced Thursday the school will be renamed the GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology, starting March 1st.

EMU President James Smith says the name is being changed to honor GameAbove, an EMU alumni group that has recently given the university a gift of $5 million and a combined total of more than $20 million over the last 15 months.

“We’re very excited, and first named college obviously is always a big deal for a university, and we hope there’s more to come,” President Smith says.

President Smith says the latest gift of $5 million will be used to help fund a variety of engineering research and programs related to things like autonomous vehicles, cyber security, and emerging technologies.
