This week, "Art and Soul" is about the art of well being, a conversation about ways to look at and live your life in a more emotionally balanced, peaceful way. This week, Lisa Barry talks with Denise Carbonell, a Reiki teacher and life coach from Dexter Township about the personal energy practice and one of the biggest issues most people grapple with: self-love.
Denise Carbonell is the owner, Reiki practitioner, and life coach for change at Joyful Spirits.
Reiki is a Japanese method of stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing, using the laying of hands on the client (fully clothed). It is very peaceful and spiritual but not tied to any one religion.
Reiki does no harm and always heals on some level--spiritual, emotional, physical. We chain ourselves with our belief systems and hurts of the past which creates energy blocks in our bodies.
Reiki helps us “unpeel each layer of the onion” to release those blocks and heal our wounds so that we can improve our health and live more freely and with the Divine forgiveness, joy, and love that lies within us! Clients have shared that the relaxation from Reiki has been "better than massage" and "like meditation"
Life coaching is a partnership which involves co-creating with the client. The coach's role is to listen, guide, inspire, and encourage the client to maximize his/her highest potential as a person and reach personal goals.
With coaching. the client is viewed as a whole person who is the expert on his/her life and has the answers within. It is a thought-provoking and creative process where possibilities are unleashed.
Denise says one of the biggest issues she deals with as a life coach is self-love--something people of all ages seem to have trouble with. She offers some advice on how to improve our sense of self-love and well being.
