The Ann Arbor Board of Education.

The Ann Arbor School Board met for a retreat on Sunday to talk about how to better communicate and the various issues facing the district.

Board President Torchio Feaster says the facilitator did a great job bringing members together. It’s been a very tense time for trustees from last year’s budget problems and layoffs to recent controversies over building new schools and meeting agenda changes.

Feaster says he hopes they’ll now be able to better connect with each other and Superintendent Jazz Parks.

“We’ll make sure that we are helping her put our vision for the district into place and focus on getting down to some of the real nitty-gritty issues that we need to address.”

Feaster says hopefully getting past all the controversy will now allow the board to refocus and get back on the right track with an emphasis on what’s best for the students.
