On September 14, Patrick Dunn joins #teamWEMU as News Director and Morning Edition host. Currently the managing editor and publisher of Concentrate Media, Patrick brings a wealth of journalism and digital experience to WEMU and can’t wait to get behind the mic as host of Morning Edition.
Longtime music broadcaster and music aficionado, Bob Nolan, takes over as host of "The Roots Music Project" and the "Roots Break" starting September 11. Highly recommended by Jeremy Baldwin, who has moved into the weekly host chair, succeeding Michael Jewett, Bob will maintain the high musical standards of WEMU’s award-winning roots music programming.
Joe Tiboni is backing up the "Big City Blues Cruise" bus to Saturday nights from 7 to 9 PM, beginning September 12. Roots to blues seems like a natural way to keep the vibe going on Saturday nights and we expect roots fans who don’t know about WEMU’s long-running blues mainstay to stick around and get on the bus.
Sunday, September 13, Ann Arbor-based bassist, composer, bandleader, and artistic director for the Blue LLama Jazz Club, Dave Sharp, brings "Planet Jazz" to 89.1 from 5 to 7 PM, following "The In Crowd." Known for blending jazz with global music traditions, Dave is happy to return to his radio roots with this exciting new program.
WEMU is joining the podcast realm with two exciting new projects.
Recent EMU grad and WEMU news producer, Joshua Nieman, has resurrected the popular series "Hidden In Plain Sight" with his first podcast on the international soccer scene at Ann Arbor’s Conor O’Neill’s Irish Pub and is hard at work on the next episode.
And, finally, veteran former NPR reporter, Neda Ulaby, is joining #teamWEMU with a new arts podcast centered on Washtenaw County. “Around the Corner” debuts on September 7, with a shortened on-air segment slated for September 8.
We will provide more in depth profiles for each new team member and program in the coming weeks.
