For the second year, the "Big Hearts For Seniors" event, which supports five community-supported programs of Michigan Medicine that serve older adults, is taking place online.

Lisa Barry talks with one of the storytellers, "Dr. Red Shoe" Dr. Margarita Gurri, and event co-chair and one of the directors of a program that benefits from this event, Jennifer Howard, about how stories can connect us, inspire us, and help.

Big Hearts for Seniors will present Big Hearted Stories: Generationsa free virtual event. This engaging program will provide a platform for talented local storytellers to share their heart-warming, true-life experiences. These compelling stories will bring laughter, inspiration, and maybe even a few tears. Special guests include emcee Vic Strecher, Ph.D. MPH, Professor of Health Behavior and Health Education in the U-M School of Public Health, and former University of Michigan Men’s Basketball Head Coach John Beilein

BHS is comprised of five community-supported programs of Michigan Medicine that serve older adults. Together, Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels, Housing Bureau for Seniors, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Silver Club Memory Programs, and the Turner Senior Wellness Program help seniors seeking access to home-delivered meals, sustainable housing options, support to remain independent, learning in retirement opportunities, relief from social isolation, and programs for those with dementia. All funds raised during the event are used to provide needed services to older adults.
