Despite social distancing obstacles faced because of COVID-19, the Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development says local residents have been filling out their 2020 Census forms.
So far, in Washtenaw County, 76.4% of the households have self-responded to the census, which means they completed the form without the help of a census worker knocking on their door. Peter Lindeman is a spokesperson for the Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development and explains the importance of getting counted, especially during COVID-19.
Peter Lindeman: The amount of funding that goes into community health centers, community health programs because of how the census allocates it, is very important.
