This would have been the 14th year artists, musicians, and local politicians paraded through the streets of downtown Ann Arbor amidst an array of giant, colorful, paper mache expressions. But this year, due to social distancing to stop the spread of COVID-19, the in-person event scheduled for April 5th will not be taking place.
WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with the founder of FestiFools and FoolMoon, Mark Tucker, about another plan he has come up with to have a "Virtual FestiFools," so people have something to watch on their own.
FestiFools founder Mark Tucker says even though the annual street event can't take place this year due to the current health crisis, he decided to put something online for people to see.
He's calling it "Virtual FestiFools," and you can watch a specially created video on the same date and time the downtown Ann Arbor event would have taken place at 4pm, April 5th.
Tucker says art means more than ever right now to most people, especially if you are isolated, so he sees this as one way of giving back to the community.
They're also launching a t-shirt designing contest looking for someone to create next year's shirt for their 15th year of FestiFools and FoolMoon.
