Wash Co Receives Extra Doses Of Vaccine As State Sen Makes Annual Pitch To End Daylight Saving Time

tonyburgess1969.net

It’s been a busy week for Washtenaw County state lawmakers in Lansing with thousands of extra vaccines being offered to the county and the annual call to an end Daylight Saving Time.

Washtenaw County is one of nearly two dozen Michigan communities to be awarded hundreds of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to help enhance the state's vaccine equity strategy, according to state senator Jeff Irwin.

WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with the state senator about that and the approaching resumption of Daylight Saving Time, which he opposes.

State Senator Jeff Irwinsays in an effort to remove barriers to safe and effective vaccinations for the most vulnerable in Michigan, Washtenaw County was selected along with 21 other communities in the state to receive extra doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

State Senator Jeff Irwin has been advocating for more local vaccine availability after saying the vaccination process got off to a “slow and frustrating start.”

Meanwhile, as Daylight Saving Time is once again scheduled to begin this coming weekend, Senator Irwin is making his annual plea to end the time-changing practice.

Senator Irwin has long advocated for an end to Daylight Saving Time and believes if neighboring states agreed to end the practice along with Michigan, there might be more support for the idea.
