YDL Gets The Green Light To Build New Branch In Superior Township

Ypsilanti District Library

The Superior Township Planning Commission has approved a final site plan for a new library branch the Ypsilanti District Library will build in that township.

The nearly 8,000 square-foot branch will be located on Harris Road and will include a large meeting room, study rooms, and computer and reading areas.  Lisa Hoenig is the library director and says the new branch will replace an existing 1,000 square-foot branch that offers limited service to patrons.

Lisa Hoenig: We want everybody in our district to be able to go the library any of the hours that they would normally expect for a library to be open, and the little tiny branch that we’ve operated there in the fire station at MacArthur has had about half the hours of our downtown Michigan Avenue branch.

The new branch is expected to open in the summer of 2022.
