COVID-19 caused the City of Ypsilanti to cancel big events like the annual Fourth of July parade. But the organizers of that event came up with a new celebration called “Unparade” that residents can safely take part in.
Instead of hosting one large parade, the organizers of the event are asking residents to host mini-parades in their neighborhoods. Erica Hampton is the co-chair of Ypsi Parade and says team leaders will help organize the mini-parades residents can enjoy from their lawns or sidewalks.
Erica Hampton: Anyone in the neighborhood who has a nice car they want to show-off or if you want to build a float. Or you just want to walk and wave, decorate bikes.
