With thousands of jobs at stake and millions of dollars in lost revenue due to the coronavirus pandemic, owners and operators of concert and venue spaces are asking the Michigan State Legislature for $10 million in support.

WEMU's Lisa Barry talks with Steve Pierce, who recently opened the "Ypsi" in downtown Ypsilanti about the impact on his venue and working together to try and stay afloat during the pandemic.

There are plenty of opportunities for civic and community engagement this week.  WEMU's David Fair and Mary Morgan of the CivCity Initiative  run them down for you in this week's edition of "Civic Matters!"

A lot of people work are working hard to make sure you never know they are there.  They work lighting, costuming, sound, stage maintenance, and projection at the film and live events you attend.  It is an important component of the area's cultural sector and the focus on this week's "creative:impact" on 89,1 WEMU.
