Improvements Made To Kroger Store In Ypsilanti Creates Jobs

Jorge Avellan

An Ypsilanti Kroger store re-opened on June 15th, and its improvements are expected to help the local economy.

About 50 new jobs will be created at the WhittakerRoad location.  Kroger spokesperson Rachel Hurst explains why the $4.8 million project took place.

"We saw a great chance for return on investment with the growth in the area."

Improvements include ready-to-eat food stations and the largest organic fresh fruits and vegetables section at any Michigan Kroger.

Shoppers like Clara Womack-Winburn, who want to eat healthier, welcome the change.

"I love the new store, especially the vegetable area, and it's bigger, and it has more selections."

This location allows shoppers to order online and pick up their groceries at the store.
