After a federal judge cleared the way to stop a presidential recount in Michigan, the Washtenaw County Elections Division has stopped counting ballots.
100,000 ballots had already been recounted during the two days the elections division worked on the process. 195,000 people voted in the general election in Washtenaw County. Hillary Clinton got 67% of the votes.
Ed Golembiewski is the Director of Elections for the county. He says the results they got from the partial recount were not surprising.
"A very, very slight change in the numbers that's the result of human eyes looking at a ballot instead of a machine--well within the range of what we expected to see. The vote gains were proportionate to the total vote that was reported on election night."
The diretcor added that he is not sure who exactly will reimburse Washtenaw County for the partial process that in two days cost over $10,000.
Green Party candidate Jill Stein had agreed to originally pay for the full process.
