This week, Art and Soul is about the culinary arts. 89.1 WEMU’S Lisa Barry and Jessica Webster talk to the author of “America the Cookbook,” Gabrielle Langholtz, who talks about the roots of “American” cooking.
The author of "America: The Cookbook," Gabrielle Langholtz, talks about the many years of research she put into the cookbook that includes 800 recipes. The book includes an essay written by one of the founders and owners of Zingerman's, Ari Weinzweig, who wrote about "really wild-wild rice and really good cream cheese." Langholtz will be at Zingerman’s Roadhouse Wednesday, July 25th, in celebration of America, a really great place to live and eat! Some of the recipes in the book will be prepared for a special dinner where people can meet the author and taste some of what she wrote about.
Lisa and Jessica also talk about several new restaurants in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti area, as well as the impending opening of Chelas-Dexter serving authentic Mexican food and well-made margaritas.
Jessica also talks about the new hand pulled noodle restaurant in Ypsilanti called Lan City and another new offering from chef and restaurant owner Frank Fejeran called PoCai.
